Gengma Dai and Wa Autonomous County, located in the southwestern part of Yunnan Province, at the southern end of Lincang City and bordering with Myanmar, is a typical border county and one of the important portals of Yunnan facing South and Southeast Asia. There are 24 ethnic groups, including Dai, Wa, Lahu, etc., living in this area, and their diversified ethnic cultures have intermingled and coexisted, resulting in unique folklore and customs, such as the Dai's "Water Splashing Festival" and the Wa's "Touching Your Black Carnival" and other highly distinctive ethnic festivals and celebrations.
