Gaogang District is a jurisdiction under Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, located on the north bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, across the river from Changzhou in the south, and connected to the main city of Taizhou in the north, which is an important port industrial new city in Jiangsu. Within the territory of the Port of Gaogang is a national class of open ports, the Yangtze River, one of the top ten ports, with 10,000 tons of deep-water berths, cargo throughput of more than a hundred million tons, is an important hub of the river and sea intermodal transport. The industry is dominated by high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, modern logistics, gathering a number of leading enterprises, while relying on the Yangtze River ecological resources, the development of cultural tourism and recreation industry. Historically, Gaogang was the ancient ferry port of "South Boat and North Horse", with deep cultural heritage, and has now become a modernized city in the Yangtze River Delta region with both industrial strength and ecological livability.
