Gangu County, Gansu, China: A Thousand-Year-Old County on the Ancient Silk Road

Gangu County, located in the southeast of Gansu Province and under the jurisdiction of Tianshui City, is situated in the upper reaches of the Weihe River, an important post on the ancient Silk Road to Guanzhong and the western regions, and has been known as the "first county in China" (one of the origins of the county system due to the fact that Fei Zi, the ancestor of the Qin people, had his fiefdom here).
