Okayama is located in the northern part of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, China, and is one of the important administrative districts of Kaohsiung. The area is known for its aviation industry, boasting the famous Okayama Air Force Base and the Aviation Education Exhibition Hall. Local specialties include traditional industries such as the bean paste industry, which has been passed down for decades, and screw manufacturing.
Okayama has a reputation for its gourmet food such as lamb stoves and honey, and the annual Basket Market is a traditional folk event that has been passed down for more than 200 years. Convenient transportation links Tainan and Kaohsiung via the Taiwan Railway Longitudinal Line and National Highway No. 1.
Important landmarks include the Awakening Village Complex and the Agongdian Creek Bicycle Path, which combine history, culture and recreation, and are an important window into the industrial and human characteristics of southern Taiwan.
