Gaborone is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Botswana, located in the southeastern part of the country near the South African border, founded in 1964 and named after the local chief Gaborone. As the political, economic and cultural center of the country, the city is known for its modern planning, safe environment and thriving businesses.
Gaborone is situated in a hilly area, next to the Nottwane River, and has a semi-arid climate, with an average annual temperature of about 20°C and a rainy season concentrated in the summer (November-March). The surrounding area is rich in nature reserves and wildlife, such as the famous Gaborone Wildlife Sanctuary.
The city's economy is dominated by the service sector, diamond trade and government institutions, with key facilities such as the University of Botswana and the International Convention Center. It is well connected to the world through the Gaborone International Airport and has a well-developed road network, making it an important hub for the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Visitors can explore national museums, art galleries, experience traditional Tswana songs and dances, or take an eco-tour to the neighboring Okavango Delta. Gaborone is one of Africa's livable cities with a low crime rate and high quality of life, attracting international investment and tourists.
Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country. It is known for its coffee farming, surrounded by terraced fields that produce Timor-Leste's premium Arabica coffee beans. Historically, Samu was an important stronghold during Timor-Leste's War of Independence, and remnants of the resistance movement still remain in the area, attracting history buffs to explore. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts. A blend of traditional Timacu culture and modern townscape, Samu offers a unique look at the interior of Timor-Leste.
