Fuqing City is located on the eastern coast of Fujian Province, China, under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou City, and is an important part of the Golden Triangle Economic Circle at the mouth of the Minjiang River. The city has a total area of about 2,430 square kilometers, with a resident population of more than 1.39 million, predominantly Han Chinese, speaking Fuqing, a common dialect of eastern Fujian.
Fuqing is surrounded by mountains and the sea, has a natural deep-water harbor, Jiangyin Port, and is a state-level economic and technological development zone. The economy is dominated by industry, with well-developed electronics, chemical, and glass manufacturing industries, and well-known companies such as TPV Technology and Fuyao Glass originated here. Meanwhile, as a traditional overseas Chinese hometown, the overseas Chinese resources have boosted the development of export-oriented economy.
Fuqing still retains historical relics such as Tianbao Pei in Tang Dynasty and Longjiang Bridge in Song Dynasty, and Shizhu Mountain Scenic Area is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, famous for its Taoist culture and lakes and mountains. Local specialties include light cakes, razor clam cakes and seafood, highlighting the fresh and aromatic flavor of Fujian cuisine.
In recent years, Fuqing has continued to deepen reform and opening up, relying on the policy advantages of the Pilot Free Trade Zone, actively constructing a modernized industrial system, and synchronizing urban and rural infrastructure construction, which has made it a county economic powerhouse and a livable and workable seaside city in Fujian Province.
