Fugong County is located in the middle of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, in the southern part of the Nujiang River Canyon of the Hengduan Mountain Range in northwestern Yunnan Province, neighboring Myanmar to the west, and is one of the core areas of the "Three Parallel Rivers" World Natural Heritage.
