Figuil, Cameroon: agro-pastoral hub of the northern steppe

Located in the northern region of Cameroon, Figuil is situated in the border zone between Adamawa Province and North Province, close to the Nigerian border, and is one of the important agro-pastoral distribution centers in northern Cameroon. The climate here is tropical grassland, divided into two distinct dry and wet seasons throughout the year, with precipitation concentrated in May-October, which is suitable for planting cotton, millet, peanuts and other crops, and animal husbandry is dominated by cattle and sheep breeding. The local population is mostly Fulani and Bamirek, and traditional handicrafts and market trade are active, retaining a strong Sahelian cultural identity.
