Fenghua is located on the eastern coast of Zhejiang Province, China, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Ningbo City, and is situated in the southern economic circle of the Yangtze River Delta. Fenghua is known as the "hometown of Chiang", the birthplace of modern historical figures Chiang Kai-shek and Chiang Ching-kuo, and the town of Xikou has preserved a large number of historical architectural complexes of the Republic of China period, such as the Fenghao House and the Yutai Salt Shop.
As the place where Monk Budai, an incarnation of the Buddhist Maitreya Buddha, passed away, Fenghua is known as the "Holy Land of Maitreya", and the Maitreya Buddha at Xuedoushan Mountain has become an important religious and cultural landmark.
