Fanchi County is located in the northeast of Shanxi Province, under Xinzhou City, east of Hebei Province and north of Inner Mongolia, and is an important node at the junction of Jin, Hebei and Mongolia. With a total area of about 2,369 square kilometers and a population of about 270,000, the county has a temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons.
The history of Fanshi dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period, and it was named after "Fansheng Zhili".
