Edison, located in central New Jersey, USA, is part of Middlesex County and is one of the major satellite towns of the New York metropolitan area. Originally named Raritan Township, the city was renamed in 1973 in honor of the great inventor Thomas Edison, who invented the phonograph, among other things, at the nearby Menlo Park Laboratory. As the economic and population center of New Jersey, Edison is known for its multicultural community and convenient transportation network, with I-287 and the NJ Transit rail line running north and south, connecting Manhattan, New York, to Philadelphia, making for an easy commute.
