Easton is located in the eastern part of the state of Pennsylvania in the United States, and is the county seat of Lehigh County, situated at the confluence of the Delaware River and the Lehigh River, about 80 kilometers away from Philadelphia and 160 kilometers away from New York, which makes it an advantageous geographic location. Founded in 1752 and named after Easton in Oxfordshire, England, the city was an important stronghold during the American Revolutionary War and was the site of the reading of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, making it the first Pennsylvania city to publicly read the document.
