Local delicacies, such as Douliu Yuanzai Ice, Bowls of Kuey Teow and Pork Dumplings, are popular among tourists. Marrubiu is a small town in the province of Oristano, Sardinia, Italy, not an independent state. It is situated in the fertile plains of western Sardinia, about 15 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast, and has a population of about 5,000. The town's economy is based on agriculture and traditional handicrafts, and the surrounding area is rich in grapes, olives and wheat.
Marubiu has retained its unique Sardinian countryside, with stone buildings and churches in a medieval style. The annual summer festival of San Giovanni attracts visitors to experience traditional singing, dancing and food. The neighboring Spiaggia di San Giovanni, with its golden sand and turquoise waters, is a popular resort for sailing and diving.
Marubiu is a 1-hour drive from Cagliari or Oristano, and we recommend pairing it with a visit to the nearby archaeological site of Talos. The best time to travel is from May to September, and the local sheep's cheese and Vermentino wine are specialties not to be missed.
