Dingbian County is located in the northwest of Shaanxi Province, the westernmost part of Yulin City, the junction of the four provinces of Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia and Mongolia, is the transition zone of the Loess Plateau and the Mao Wusu Sandy Land, and has been known as "the chicken listening to the four provinces".
