Diffa, the capital of the Diffa region in southeastern Niger, is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and shares a border with Nigeria, making it one of the most important border cities in Niger. The city is located in the lower Niger River basin around the climate of the tropical desert climate, hot and dry throughout the year, the average annual precipitation is less than 300 millimeters. The economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, and the surrounding areas are rich in millet, sorghum and livestock. Diffa, as a regional trade center, undertakes the function of cross-border trade with neighboring countries, such as Nigeria, and is especially famous for the trade of livestock, agricultural products and handicrafts. The city is culturally diverse, with Hausa, Tuareg and Kanuri ethnic groups living in the area, and is unique in its crafts such as traditional leather weaving and silversmithing. Despite infrastructural challenges, Diffa remains an important economic and cultural node in the south-east of the Niger, thanks to its strategic location and rich cultural heritage.
Wubao County is located in the northeastern part of Shaanxi Province and southeastern part of Yulin City, China, on the west bank of the middle reaches of the Yellow River, across the river from Shanxi Province. It has a total area of 428 square kilometers and a population of about 80,000 people. As part of the Loess Plateau in northern Shaanxi, Wubao is dominated by hilly and gully terrain, with a temperate continental monsoon climate and four distinct seasons.
Wubao has a long history and is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese nation, with cultural landscapes such as the Shicheng Ruins and the Yellow River moraine. The economy is mainly based on agriculture, producing red dates, millet and other specialties, while developing tourism and energy industries. The transportation is convenient, with the Qingyin Expressway and the Tai-Zhongyin Railway passing through the city, connecting Shaanxi and Shanxi. With its unique natural scenery and cultural heritage, Wubao attracts tourists to explore the culture of the Yellow River and the flavor of northern Shaanxi.
