Located in the north-eastern part of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Diekirch is the capital of the canton of Diekirch and is situated on the banks of the river Suhr, close to the German border. As the most important city in the north of Luxembourg, Dietrich is known for its multicultural atmosphere and its strategic location, with a population of around 6,800.
Diekirch has a long history, first documented in 1239. The city's landmarks include the 17th-century Church of St. Lawrence and the ruins of the castle of Diekirch. It is also home to the University of Luxembourg's affiliated campuses, which are particularly well known for their logistics management and information technology programs, attracting a large number of international students.
Thanks to its proximity to Germany, Belgium and France, Diekirch is a hub for cross-border economic cooperation. The local economy is dominated by the service, retail and logistics sectors, with many branches of multinational companies. The weekly open-air market is a symbol of the city's vitality, offering fresh produce and handicrafts.
Surrounded by the Moselle wine region and the natural landscape of the Ardennes Highlands, Dirchig is ideal for hiking and cycling. The "Dirchisch International Music Festival" attracts visitors from all over Europe every summer, while the winter Christmas market has a traditional atmosphere. The city is efficiently connected to Luxembourg City and Trier, Germany by rail and road network.
It should be noted that there is no official city in Russia named "Marx". There may be some confusion about the city of Engels (Энгельс), which is located in the Saratov Oblast, on the left bank of the Volga River, across the river from Saratov, and is one of the most important industrial cities in Russia, named in honor of Engels. If the name does refer to a place name associated with Marx, there is no direct equivalent in Russia, but some streets or squares may be named after Marx, such as the former "Karl Marx Street" in Moscow (now renamed). It is recommended that specific names be verified to avoid biased information.
