Chihshang is a tourist township located in the northern end of Taitung County, Taiwan, China, in the center of the Huadong Longitudinal Valley Plain, known throughout Taiwan as a high-quality rice producing area. With an altitude of about 260 meters above sea level, the climate is pleasant, with an average annual temperature of about 23℃. The famous Ikegami Bento culture originates from the tradition of railroad rice bags here.

Chihshang Station on the Taiwan Railway is an important transportation node, and specialties include Chihshang rice, bean skins, rice cakes, and other processed agricultural products. It is recommended to visit the idyllic countryside by bicycle. The best time to visit is during the period of golden rice ears in October-November and the period of bright green rice waves in April-May.
