Dege County, located in the northwestern part of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, China, is a historical region centered on Tibetan culture. It is known as "one of the three major birthplaces of Tibetan culture" and is famous for its deep religious and academic traditions.
The Dege Institute of Sutra Printing is one of the most important Tibetan scripture printing centers in Asia, preserving a large number of Buddhist classics and documents, and is listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
