Dege County, located in the northwestern part of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, China, is a historical region centered on Tibetan culture. It is known as "one of the three major birthplaces of Tibetan culture" and is famous for its deep religious and academic traditions.
The Dege Institute of Sutra Printing is one of the most important Tibetan scripture printing centers in Asia, preserving a large number of Buddhist classics and documents, and is listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit. It is also an important place for the transmission of Derge Tibetan opera, thangka painting and traditional Tibetan medicine.
Located on the eastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau, Derge County is blessed with magnificent alpine, grassland and river landscapes, such as the Jinsha River Gorge and the Quel Mountain Natural Scenic Area. Tourism is gradually developing, attracting tourists to experience unique Tibetan style and trekking adventures.
The economy is based on animal husbandry, agriculture and cultural tourism, and the local production of Derge Tibetan paper and handicrafts enjoys a great reputation. Derge is striving to balance the preservation of traditional culture with modern development to become an important cultural destination in western Sichuan.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
