It was built in the 1920s and features 18th-century colonial architecture. The red brick townhouses, white wood windows and doors, and well-maintained gardens are a perfect reminder of an early American town, and the neighborhood plan retains narrow streets and open green spaces to create a peaceful and livable community. As a local landmark historic preservation district, Colonial Village not only attracts history buffs to explore the aesthetics of the architecture, but also offers a unique window into Washington's local culture with its proximity to popular attractions such as Georgetown and the National Zoo, showcasing the historical heritage of the modern city.
