Shamdo County is located in the eastern part of Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, in the core hinterland of the Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve, an important source of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and the Lancang River, and is known as the key area of the "Chinese Water Tower". With an average altitude of more than 4,500 meters, it has natural wonders such as Laguladong Divine Mountain and Gaduojuego Divine Mountain, as well as the Longbaotan National Black-necked Crane Nature Reserve, which is rich in biodiversity.
