Chaya County, belonging to Chamdo City of the Tibet Autonomous Region, is located in the eastern part of Tibet, in the hinterland of the Hengduan Mountains, on the east bank of the middle reaches of the Lancang River. The average altitude is about 3200 meters, the terrain is high in the north and low in the south, with high mountain valleys and river valley plains, with magnificent snow-capped mountains, grasslands and forests, is a typical highland ecological zone in the east of Tibet. It has a long history and is an important node of the Tea and Horse Road, with a profound Tibetan culture, including the famous Xiangkang Hall (Xiangdui Temple), Renda Cliff Rock Carvings and other cultural heritages, which are a blend of Tibetan Buddhist art and historical imprints. The people of Chaya are mainly engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, and retain traditional folk activities such as potshang dance and string dance, and are warm and hospitable. The unique natural scenery and rich ethnic customs make it an undeveloped tourist destination for experiencing the eastern Tibetan culture and exploring the secret of the plateau.
