Cengong County is located in the eastern part of Guizhou Province and the northeastern part of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, which is situated in the transition zone from the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to the hilly areas of western Hunan, and has been known as the "Gateway to the East of Guizhou" since ancient times.
