Carroll is the county seat of Carroll County, Iowa, United States, located in the west-central part of the state, about 130 kilometers northwest of Des Moines. The city covers an area of about 16.5 km2 and has a population of about 10,000 (2020 data), making it the center of a typical Midwestern American agricultural community. The economy is based on agriculture, manufacturing, and healthcare, with well-developed corn and soybean farming, as well as food processing and machinery manufacturing industries. The local education system is well-developed, including K-12 public and private schools, and healthcare facilities are centered around St. Anthony's Hospital.
