Carlisle, the county seat of Cumberland County, is located in south-central Pennsylvania, USA, just 30 minutes from the state capital, Harrisburg. Founded in 1751, the town is steeped in history and was an important military stronghold during the American Revolutionary War, with Carlisle Barracks being one of the oldest active military installations of the U.S. Army. Carlisle is also known for Dickinson College, a private liberal arts college founded in 1773 that has produced many outstanding individuals. The town's economy is diverse, encompassing education, healthcare, manufacturing and agriculture, and the rich surrounding farmland is known for its quality produce. The Carlisle Historic District preserves a large number of 18th- and 19th-century buildings, such as the Old Courthouse and St. John's Church, which appeal to history buffs. At the same time, its proximity to the Appalachian Mountains provides residents and visitors with an abundance of opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing, making it a small town that blends history, culture and nature.
Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services.
