Located in Altay Region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Burqin County is at the southern foot of Altay Mountains and on the banks of the Irtysh River, and is known as the "No. 1 County in Western China". Diffa, the capital of the Diffa region in southeastern Niger, is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and shares a border with Nigeria, making it one of the most important border cities in Niger.
