Bu'aale is the capital of the Galguduud region in south-central Somalia, located in the interior of the country about 400 kilometers from the capital city of Mogaza. As the administrative and commercial center of the region, the city's main economic pillar is animal husbandry, and the surrounding areas are rich in livestock such as camels and goats, and trade activities rely on local markets and cross-border trade routes. The climate is savannah, dry and hot throughout the year, with brief precipitation during the rainy season (about April-June). Despite persistent security challenges, Buyale remains an important regional population center, with a population in the hundreds of thousands, predominantly ethnic Somali, speaking Somali and Arabic. In recent years, local authorities and international organizations have been working to restore stability and vitality to the city by progressively rebuilding infrastructure and improving livelihoods.
