Bor, the capital of South Sudan's Central Equatoria State, is located in the south-central part of the country along the White Nile River and is an important hub of South Sudan's history and culture. As a traditional Dinka settlement, Bor played a key role in Sudan's Second War of Independence and the founding of the South Sudanese state, and is known as the "Cradle of the South Sudanese Revolution". The city is surrounded by fertile agricultural land, with animal husbandry and crop farming (e.g. maize, sorghum) as the mainstay of the economy, and the White Nile River facilitating local fishing and trade.
