Boai County is located in the northwestern part of China's Henan Province, under Jiaozuo City, at the southern foot of the Taihang Mountains, with a total area of 435 square kilometers. It is a transition zone between the North China Plain and the Taihang Mountains, and is known for its agriculture, tourism and specialty industries.
Boai County was named by General Feng Yuxiang in 1927, after the humanistic spirit of "Boai", and is the only county-level administrative region in Henan Province named after an ideology. There are six national key cultural relics protection units in the county, including the Three Sacred Pagodas of Tianning Temple in the Yuan Dynasty.
Boai is the famous "bamboo township" in North China, with the largest cultivated bamboo forest in North China - Boai Bamboo Forest. The specialty of "four big Huaiyao medicines" (Huai Di Huang, Huai Niu Knee, Huai Yam, Huai Chrysanthemum) is famous all over the country. The Qingtian River Scenic Spot is a national 5A-level tourist attraction, integrating canyon scenery and humanistic landscape.
Boai has convenient transportation, with Jiaozhi Railway and Zhengtai High-speed Railway passing through the city, 20 kilometers away from Jiaozuo city. Now it has formed three leading industries, namely equipment manufacturing, food processing and modern textile, while vigorously developing rural tourism and eco-agriculture.
