Boiron is a town in the administrative district of Upper Bavaria in the German state of Bavaria, not an independent state. It is located about 50 kilometers south of Munich on the banks of the Isar River in the northern foothills of the Alps and has a population of about 3,500. The town is known for its rich history, its Catholic Benedictine abbey and its natural beauty.
The Abbey of Boiron, founded in the 8th century, is the central landmark of the area and is known for its Baroque architecture and collection of religious art. The town retains its traditional Bavarian houses, hosts annual Christmas markets and other folklore events, and is surrounded by forests and hills, making it ideal for hiking and cycling tours.
The economy is based on tourism, agriculture and small crafts, with easy access to Munich and the Austrian border by road and rail. Boiron embodies the tranquility and cultural heritage of the Bavarian countryside and is an ideal stopover for exploring the German pre-Alpine region.
Yuanli is located in the southwestern part of Miaoli County, Taiwan Province of China, bordering the Taiwan Strait to the west, and is one of the towns with the longest history in Miaoli County. The town is famous for its traditional rushes weaving, known as the "original township of rushes", and its handmade straw mats and hat products have been exported to Japan, Europe and the United States. Yuanli is rich in agricultural and fishery products, and is an important rice production area in Miaoli. It also retains traditional red-brick residential complexes. There are cultural attractions such as the nation's only heart-shaped stone hut landscape, the Dongli family style and the Japanese-style dormitory at the foot of the mountain, presenting a historical blend of southern Fujian culture and the Japanese colonial period. As a coastal town, Yuanli is characterized by both agricultural culture and coastal ecotourism, making it an important destination for experiencing the humanistic landscape of Taiwan's western coast.
