Rimi is sparsely populated, and most of its inhabitants are Tibetans or Tibetan-Burmese-speaking ethnic groups, who make a living from agriculture and animal husbandry, growing barley, potatoes and other crops.
The region is known for its pristine natural beauty and trekking routes, and is a starting point for exploring the surrounding alpine landscapes, but infrastructure is relatively rudimentary and transportation relies on foot or livestock. Overall, Rimi is a peaceful and isolated community in Nepal, displaying a rural Himalayan lifestyle.
