It is located about 50 kilometers south of Munich on the banks of the Isar River in the northern foothills of the Alps and has a population of about 3,500. The town is known for its rich history, its Catholic Benedictine abbey and its natural beauty.
The Abbey of Boiron, founded in the 8th century, is the central landmark of the area and is known for its Baroque architecture and collection of religious art. The town retains its traditional Bavarian houses, hosts annual Christmas markets and other folklore events, and is surrounded by forests and hills, making it ideal for hiking and cycling tours.
The economy is based on tourism, agriculture and small crafts, with easy access to Munich and the Austrian border by road and rail. Boiron embodies the tranquility and cultural heritage of the Bavarian countryside and is an ideal stopover for exploring the German pre-Alpine region.
Martíenzo, in the province of Almería in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain, is a small inland town with a traditional flavor. Located in southeastern Spain, at the foot of the Sierra Alhamilla mountain range, it is surrounded by an arid and unique semi-desert landscape that forms a magnificent natural backdrop.
Martínzo is known for its typical Andalusian Pueblos Blancos (white villages), with narrow streets, whitewashed houses and old churches forming the core of the town's landscape. The local economy is predominantly agricultural, known for its olive and almond cultivation and vineyards, and retains a strong sense of rural life.
Despite its small size, the area around Martienso boasts several hiking routes to explore the unique ecosystem of the Alhamelia Natural Park. In addition, the town is conveniently located about 50 kilometers from the city of Almeria, making it an ideal place to experience the culture and natural beauty of the Andalusian interior.
