Boiron is a town in the administrative district of Upper Bavaria in the German state of Bavaria, not an independent state. It is located about 50 kilometers south of Munich on the banks of the Isar River in the northern foothills of the Alps and has a population of about 3,500. The town is known for its rich history, its Catholic Benedictine abbey and its natural beauty.
The Abbey of Boiron, founded in the 8th century, is the central landmark of the area and is known for its Baroque architecture and collection of religious art. The town retains its traditional Bavarian houses, hosts annual Christmas markets and other folklore events, and is surrounded by forests and hills, making it ideal for hiking and cycling tours.
The economy is based on tourism, agriculture and small crafts, with easy access to Munich and the Austrian border by road and rail. Boiron embodies the tranquility and cultural heritage of the Bavarian countryside and is an ideal stopover for exploring the German pre-Alpine region.
Orchid Island is an outlying island off Taitung County, Taiwan Province of China, located in the Pacific Ocean, about 90 kilometers from Taitung, and is the birthplace of the Dawu (Yami) ethnic group. The island is mountainous, with dense tropical vegetation, surrounded by coral reefs and clear waters, and is known as the "Jewel of the Pacific". The Dawu ethnic group is centered on maritime culture and retains unique customs such as the traditional flying fish festival and boat building skills. Orchid Island has a warm climate, with an average temperature of about 23 degrees Celsius throughout the year. In summer, the island is suitable for diving and viewing coral and tropical fish, while in winter, it is a stargazing destination, where the starry night sky shines brightly due to the low level of light pollution. Transportation on the island is mainly by locomotive and on foot, preserving a simple and unsophisticated indigenous style, making it a great place to experience nature and aboriginal culture.
