Boiron is a town in the administrative district of Upper Bavaria in the German state of Bavaria, not an independent state. It is located about 50 kilometers south of Munich on the banks of the Isar River in the northern foothills of the Alps and has a population of about 3,500. The town is known for its rich history, its Catholic Benedictine abbey and its natural beauty.
The Abbey of Boiron, founded in the 8th century, is the central landmark of the area and is known for its Baroque architecture and collection of religious art. Birkirkara is a historic town in the center of the main island of Malta, about 6 kilometers from the capital city of Valletta, known as the "Garden City of Malta". The town has a rich cultural heritage, the most famous landmark of which is the Church of St. Helen, believed to have been built in the 4th century AD and one of the oldest churches in Malta. Birkirkara is also home to the traditional Maltese Carnival, which is celebrated every February by the local population dressed in finery, with a parade of floats and musical performances. As one of Malta's old capitals, Birkirkara witnessed important moments in history when Malta became independent in 1964.
