Berane is a historical city in the north of Montenegro, located on the banks of the river Lim and belongs to the administrative center of the northeastern region of the Republic of Montenegro. As the fourth largest city in Montenegro, Berane has a population of about 11,000 and is situated in a basin surrounded by mountains, with a mild climate and beautiful nature.
Berane was first recorded in the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century and was formerly known as "Budomlija". The city retains the remains of Ottoman architecture and Orthodox monasteries, such as the famous St. George's Church. During World War II, it was an important stronghold in the fight against fascism. Serbian culture is predominant in the region, with traditional handicrafts and folklore festivals.
The economy is based on agriculture, wood processing and small-scale industry, with ecotourism gradually developing in recent years. Parts of the Björgradiska Mountain National Park are located in the surrounding area and are suitable for hiking and nature exploration. The city has a good infrastructure, with highways connecting the main cities of Montenegro, and is an important hub to the Serbian border.
Mungu is the capital of the Western Province of Zambia, located along the upper Zambezi River and adjacent to the famous Barotse flood plain. As the administrative and commercial center of the Western Region, Mungu's main economic pillars are agriculture and fisheries, and the surrounding area is rich in maize, cassava and other crops.
The city is surrounded by a unique wetland ecosystem, and the floodplains created by the flooding of the Zambezi River during the rainy season each year attract a great deal of wildlife, making it an important area for observing creatures such as birds and hippos. Newmba National Park, about 70 kilometers from Mungu, protects the rare Roan antelope.
Mungu is an area where the traditional culture of the Lozi people is relatively well preserved, and the annual Kumboka ceremony (Litunga's relocation ceremony) attracts many visitors. The city is connected by road to Lusaka and neighboring Namibia and Botswana, and the Mungu Bridge is an important transportation hub linking Zambia to the southern African countries.
