Beowawe, a part of Elko County in north-central Nevada, USA, is one of the state's lesser-known and remote towns. Located along Interstate 80, it is surrounded by a vast and inhospitable area with a permanent population of less than 100 people, preserving the primitive features of the late 19th century pioneering West. The town is known for its unique geothermal landscape, with natural geysers and steam vents, and an abundance of subsurface thermal energy that attracted early mining development. Today, Beowulf attracts explorers with its serene wilderness atmosphere and geological wonders, making it one of the hidden destinations for experiencing the vastness and mystery of Nevada's "Sky State".
