Bayankhongor is the capital of Bayankhongor Province of Mongolia, located in the Gobi region of the south-central part of the country, about 630 kilometers from the capital city of Ulaanbaatar. The city is situated in the hills of the Altai Mountains and has an arid climate with cold winters and hot summers, typical of the transition zone between steppe and desert. With a population of about 30,000, predominantly Mongolian, the economy relies on animal husbandry, agriculture and small-scale mining, with an abundance of camels and cashmere. Famous for its natural beauty, Bayankhongor is surrounded by the Gobi Desert, ancient petroglyphs and wildlife sanctuaries that attract adventure tourists. The city's culture preserves traditional nomadic customs, such as the Naadam festival, making it a unique destination to experience life in remote parts of Mongolia.
Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims.
