Located in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei's capital city, Kampong Ayer is one of the world's largest stilt-house water villages and is known as the 'Venice of the East'. This more than 1,300-year-old settlement consists of some 42 stilt-house villages that are connected by bridges, footpaths and water transportation. The traditional Brunei way of life is preserved here, with houses built on river pillars and facilities such as schools, mosques and markets. Baduapoi is not only a symbol of Brunei culture, but also a popular destination for tourists to experience the traditional life of the region, demonstrating the unique wisdom of the Bruneian people in living with the water.
Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country. It is known for its coffee farming, surrounded by terraced fields that produce Timor-Leste's premium Arabica coffee beans. Historically, Samu was an important stronghold during Timor-Leste's War of Independence, and remnants of the resistance movement still remain in the area, attracting history buffs to explore. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts.
