Batkanu is an important town in the Northern Province of the West African country of Sierra Leone, located in the northeastern border region of the country, adjacent to Guinea. As the administrative center of Batkanu District, the town is an important hub connecting Sierra Leone to its neighboring countries in terms of trade.
Batkanu is situated in a savannah climate zone, and the economy is based on agriculture, with rice, cassava and other crops grown, while livestock is also an important source of livelihood for the local population.
