It is known for its rich coal resources and belongs to the core area of the Golden Triangle of Energy in Jin, Shaanxi and Mongolia. Baode has a temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons, and agriculture is dominated by miscellaneous grain cultivation, while industry is anchored by energy and mineral development.
