As a key node connecting Gonia's interior with neighboring countries, Basse is known for its distribution of agricultural products, with peanuts, cotton, and grains abundant in the surrounding area, and a vibrant local market that attracts traders from around the region. The city is small but gradually improving its infrastructure, combining the vitality of a traditional bazaar with the beginnings of a modern town. Its savannah climate, with an average annual temperature of around 27°C, makes it an important window into the culture and economy of eastern Gonia, and one of the starting points for exploring the scenery along the Gonia River.
