Banjarmasin, the capital of South Kalimantan, Indonesia, is located in the delta of the Barito River in the southern part of the island of Borneo and is known as the "City of a Thousand Rivers". The city is known for its unique water culture and thriving river trade, with traditional floating markets such as Lok Baintan being a popular destination for tourists to experience local life, and early morning boat trips to trade produce and handicrafts.
The history of Machen dates back to the Machen Sultanate in the 16th century, with a rich Malay cultural heritage of traditional Malay architecture and dance. The economy is based on agriculture, fishing and mining (especially coal), and serves as a transportation hub for the Kalimantan region, linking inland and coastal trade. The climate is typical of a tropical rainforest, with hot, humid and rainy conditions throughout the year.
Major attractions include the Sabilal Muhtadin Mosque and the Mesjil Bazaar (Pasar Terapung), as well as boat trips to the mangrove forests and freshwater dolphin watching. Machen attracts travelers exploring Borneo's nature and people with its multicultural blend (Malay, Banjar, etc.) and friendly atmosphere.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
