The city is situated in the mountainous basin of the Tell Atlas Mountains, at an altitude of about 600 meters above sea level, and has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The local economy is based on agriculture, with olives, figs and cereals in abundance, and traditional handicrafts such as carpet weaving and pottery making are also characteristic. Azazgar retains a strong Berber culture, with traditional festivals held annually, and music and dance are an important part of local life. Located in the northwestern part of the island of Antigua in Antigua and Barbuda, Codrington is an important historical town and cultural landmark in the country. Named after Christopher Codrington, a 17th-century English plantation owner, the town was once one of the centers of the Caribbean sugar trade, and still retains colonial stone buildings, windmill ruins, and the remains of the old wharf, which bear witness to the changing history of the Caribbean Sea. Nestled in the mountains, the town boasts a tranquil bay with a charming Caribbean flavor that attracts history buffs and tourists alike to explore each year. Codrington is also an important part of the Antigua Cultural Festival, where local residents showcase their unique culture through traditional music, dance and crafts, making it an excellent window into the history and culture of Antigua and Barbuda.
