Arba Minch, the capital of the Southern Region of Ethiopia, is located in the southern part of the Rift Valley and is known as the "City of the South". This small city is surrounded by mountains and water, bordered by Lake Abaya in the north and Lake Chamo in the south, forming a unique "gateway to the lakes" between the two lakes, which is an important window for viewing African wildlife. The surrounding Omo National Park is known for its pristine tribal culture and rich biodiversity, attracting tourists from all over the world. As the economic center of the region, Arba Mench is based on agriculture and fisheries, but in recent years, tourism has grown rapidly, making it a must-visit destination for exploring the nature and people of southwestern Ethiopia.
Nanumanga is a coral atoll in the Republic of Tuvalu in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, about 400 kilometers north of Fiji in tropical waters near the equator. As one of the island chain of Tuvalu consisting of nine islands, the island is low-lying, with an average elevation of less than 2 meters above sea level, surrounded by coral reefs to form a unique lagoon landscape, with an area of about 3 square kilometers, sparsely populated, and dominated by a traditional Polynesian community life, with fisheries and coconut cultivation as the main economic activities. Due to the rising sea level caused by global climate change, Nuirakita, together with other Tuvaluan islands, is under the threat of being submerged, and has become the frontline for observing the impact of sea level rise. Despite this, the island has preserved its pristine marine ecology and Polynesian culture, making it an important area to study the fragile ecosystems and traditional cultural adaptations of Pacific island countries.
