Arba Minch, the capital of the Southern Region of Ethiopia, is located in the southern part of the Rift Valley and is known as the "City of the South". Isfara is a historic city in the Soghd province of Tajikistan, located in the southwestern part of the Ferghana Basin, near the tri-border between Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The population of about 40,000 is predominantly Tajik, and Tajik is spoken by most of the inhabitants.
