Located in Knox County, Maine in the northeastern United States, Appleton is a small rural community with a population of about 1,300. Founded in 1829 and named after early settler Samuel Appleton, the town's history is closely tied to the development of agriculture and forestry.
Located in a hilly area, Appleton is surrounded by forests, streams, and farmland, and has a typical rural Maine landscape. The town covers an area of about 92 square kilometers and has a climate with four distinct seasons, attracting visitors with the brilliant colors of the maple leaves in the fall. Located in Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, China, the Shanxi Salt Lake is one of the oldest salt lakes in China, with a history of over 4,000 years of mining. Covering an area of about 130 square kilometers, this inland salt lake is known as the "Dead Sea of China" for its abundance of sodium sulfate-type salt, known as the "Dead Sea of China".
The salt lake is rich in many minerals and trace elements, and will naturally crystallize in summer to form white "nitrate flower" spectacle. It is not only an important chemical raw material base in China, but also developed floating experience, black mud health and other special tourism projects. Yuncheng Salt Lake is one of the three largest sodium sulfate inland salt lakes in the world, and the Dead Sea in Israel.
Local salt lake recreation resort has been built, tourists can experience the magical floating on the water, feel the unique charm of unsinkable lake water. Around the Salt Lake, there is still the ancient technique of watering and sunning salt in the reclaimed borders, which is listed in the national intangible cultural heritage list.
