The City of Amity, located in Clark County in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Arkansas, is the county seat and an important community center. Founded in the 1870s, the city's name is derived from the French word "amitié" (friendship), which symbolizes the harmonious atmosphere among early settlers. A typical small town with a population of approximately 3,000 (2020 figures), Amitié is known for its peaceful living environment and close-knit community. The economy is based on agriculture, small-scale manufacturing and forestry, and the neighborhood is rich in crops such as soybeans and cotton, as well as having industries such as wood processing.
