Ahangammer is a coastal town in the southwest of Sri Lanka, part of the Galle District, about 98 kilometers from Colombo. Facing the Indian Ocean, it is famous for its long stretches of golden sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, and is a famous surfing and vacation destination.
The town has wide sandy beaches and coral reef formations for snorkeling and diving. Its excellent wave conditions make it especially suitable for beginner surfers. The surrounding mangrove wetlands and traditional fishing wharf demonstrate the unique seaside ecology and culture.
Ahangamo is a traditional fishing community where visitors can experience the fishing market or take a boat trip. Key activities include surfing lessons, whale watching (November to April), yoga on the beach, and exploring the neighboring ancient city of Galle (a UN World Heritage Site).
A direct train or bus ride from Colombo takes about 2-3 hours. The best time to visit is during the dry season from December to March. The local area is characterized by seafood cuisine and homely bed and breakfasts for travelers seeking a peaceful beach vacation.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
