Aguas Corrientes is a city in the department of Salto, Uruguay, located along the River Uruguay, about 45 kilometers from the capital city of Salto. The city is known for its mild subtropical climate and rich agricultural resources, with citrus and vegetable crops in the surrounding area.
Aguas Corrientes was founded in the late 19th century, and its name means "hot water" in Spanish, which may be related to the hot springs in the area. Most of the inhabitants make their living from agriculture and animal husbandry, preserving the traditional Uruguayan countryside lifestyle and its simplicity. Every year, local festivals are held to show the characteristics of gaucho culture.
As an inland agricultural town, the economy is based on citrus cultivation, animal husbandry and processing of agricultural products. The city is located on the alluvial plain of the Uruguay River, with flat terrain and riparian areas suitable for irrigated agriculture. It is well connected to the main cities of Salto and Paysandú via National Highway 3.
Visitors can experience the natural beauty of the Uruguay River, visit a traditional ranch (Estancia), and taste local barbecue specialties. There are hot spring resort facilities in the surrounding area, making it suitable for winter vacation travel. It is recommended to visit Daymán and Arapey together with the hot springs of the department of Salto.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
